Platinum Sheet Electrode — Refractory Precious Metal, Excellent Corrosion Resistance, Custom Sizes

Product Overview

Platinum is a member of the platinum-group metals with a high melting point of approximately 1769 °C,
classifying it as a refractory metal. Soft and highly workable, it can be forged, rolled, or drawn into rods, wires, sheets, tubes,
and custom geometries. Platinum exhibits remarkable chemical stability — it resists oxidation even at high temperatures and reacts
with very few chemical reagents at room temperature (notably reactive to aqua regia). Among all easily machinable materials,
platinum and its alloys are among the most corrosion-resistant.

With stable electrical resistance, a low temperature coefficient, and excellent thermoelectric properties, platinum sheet electrodes
are widely used in chemical experiment systems, electrical instrumentation, the chemical industry, and in the production
of precision alloys.

Key Features

  • Refractory metal with a high melting point (~1769 °C)
  • Excellent corrosion resistance and chemical stability
  • Highly workable — forgeable, rollable, and drawable into multiple forms
  • Stable electrical resistance and low temperature coefficient
  • Suitable for harsh laboratory and industrial environments

Applications

  • Chemical experiment systems
  • Electrical instrumentation
  • Chemical industry components
  • Precision alloy production

Usage Instructions

  1. Before use, clean the platinum sheet electrode in a chromic acid solution, then rinse thoroughly with distilled water.
  2. If the electrode surface is contaminated with oil, first clean with acetone, then follow with chromic acid treatment and a distilled water rinse.
  3. For electrodes with PEEK (Polyether ether ketone) housings, avoid exposure to acid concentrations above 50%.
